Amoxicillin 250mg is a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibiotic suitable for mild to moderate infections and paediatric doses. It kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis via binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).

Indications

Admox 250 is indicated for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible organisms:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia (mild)
• Ear, Nose & Throat Infections: Otitis media, sinusitis
• Urinary Tract Infections
• Skin & Soft Tissue Infections
• Dental Infections

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children over 10 years: 250mg three times daily for mild infections; 500mg three times daily for severe infections.

Children under 10 years: 125–250mg three times daily (25mg/kg/day in divided doses).

Duration: 5–14 days as prescribed. Complete the full course.

Administration: May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications & Precautions

• Hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins
• Dose reduction in severe renal impairment
• May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives

Side Effects

Common: Diarrhoea, nausea, skin rash. Serious: anaphylaxis (rare), C. difficile colitis (rare).

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
