Camlosart 5/40 mg Tablet

Overview

Camlosart 5/40 mg Tablet contains a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine Besilate and Olmesartan Medoxomil, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It combines a calcium channel blocker and an ARB for the management of hypertension in patients requiring dual antihypertensive therapy.

Dosage and Administration

Usually 1 tablet once daily, with or without food, or as prescribed by the physician. The dose may be adjusted based on blood pressure response after 2 weeks.

Interaction

Concomitant use with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or NSAIDs may alter blood pressure control. Potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements may cause hyperkalaemia with olmesartan. CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase amlodipine levels; avoid grapefruit juice.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in pregnancy (second and third trimesters), bilateral renal artery stenosis, and known hypersensitivity to either component or other ARBs.

Side Effects

Peripheral oedema, dizziness, headache, flushing, and hypotension. Olmesartan may rarely cause sprue-like enteropathy with chronic use.
