Clofenac 10gm Gel

Overview

Clofenac Gel contains Diclofenac Sodium 1% w/w, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is a topical anti-inflammatory preparation used for the relief of pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal conditions including soft tissue injuries, sports injuries, sprains, strains, bruising, tendinitis, and localised forms of rheumatic disease.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: apply a thin layer to the affected area 3–4 times daily and rub in gently. Wash hands after application unless treating the hands. Do not apply to broken skin, eyes, or mucous membranes.

Interaction

Systemic absorption is low but may be enhanced if applied to large areas or under occlusive dressings. Concurrent oral NSAIDs should be avoided to reduce risk of systemic adverse effects.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs. Avoid on open wounds, eyes, and mucous membranes. Do not use on skin with eczema or other dermatitis.

Side Effects

Local reactions at application site (redness, itching, rash) are possible. Systemic NSAID effects are rare with topical use but possible if applied over large areas.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Avoid during the third trimester of pregnancy. Use with caution during early pregnancy and breastfeeding; do not apply to breast area if breastfeeding.

Precautions and Warnings

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use with occlusive dressings unless directed. Avoid excessive sun exposure on treated area.

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep tube tightly closed. Keep out of the reach of children.
