Description
A-Meb is a musculotropic antispasmodic agent available as film-coated tablet. It works by relaxing the muscles in the gut, thereby relieving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and similar conditions.
Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains Mebeverine Hydrochloride BP 135 mg.
Indications
A-Meb is indicated
*For the symptomatic relief of GI spasm and abdominal pain & bloating in irritable bowel syndrome
*Other conditions include;
- Chronic irritable colon
- Spastic constipation
- Mucous colitis
- Colicky abdominal pain and cramps
- Persistent non-specific diarrhoea
Dosage and Administration
Adults, elderly and children over 10 years: One tablet three times a day, preferably 20 minutes before meals. After a period of several weeks when the desired effect has been obtained; the dosage may be gradually reduced. For Missed dose: If a dose of this medicine is missed, that should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, then the missed dose should be skipped and the regular dosing schedule should be maintained. Double Dose should not be taken to make up the missed dose. Or as directed by the physician.
Side Effects
There is no known life threatening toxic effects of Mebeverine as it is well tolerated in recommended dose. However, few side-effects like skin rash, urticaria and angioedema may appear on rare occasion.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in porphyria or hypersensitivity to Mebeverine or any other medicine of this group. Contraindications: Not known
Use in Pregnancy and lactation
No teratogenicity has been shown in animal experiments. However, the usual precautions concerning the administration of any drug during pregnancy should be exercised. It is unknown whether mebeverine or its metabolites are excreted in human milk.
Use in Children
The preparation is only recommended for children over 10 years.
Overdose
On theoretical grounds it may be predicted that CNS excitability will occur in case of overdose. No specific antidote is known: gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment is recommended.

Each box contains 5X10 tablets in blister strips.
