Ace 1000 mg Power Tablet

Overview

Ace Power 1000 mg Tablet contains Paracetamol, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is indicated for fever, common cold and influenza, headache, toothache, earache, bodyache, myalgia, neuralgia, dysmenorrhoea, sprains, colic pain, back pain, post-operative and postpartum pain, and inflammatory pain. It is also used for rheumatic and osteoarthritic pain and joint stiffness.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 gm (8 tablets) daily. Children (6-12 years): ½ to 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily; for long-term treatment, dose should not exceed 2.6 gm/day.

Interaction

Patients who have taken barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants or alcohol may show diminished ability to metabolise large doses. Alcohol can increase hepatotoxicity risk on overdosage. Chronic use of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives may reduce therapeutic levels by increasing clearance.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.

Side Effects

Side effects are usually mild. Rare haematological reactions (thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis), pancreatitis, skin rash and other allergic reactions have occasionally been reported.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Epidemiological studies in human pregnancy have shown no ill effects at recommended doses, but patients should follow their physician's advice. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts and is not contraindicated during breastfeeding.

Precautions and Warnings

Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Do not exceed the stated dose and avoid taking other paracetamol-containing products concurrently.
