Ansulin N 100 IU

Overview

Ansulin N contains Isophane Insulin Human (NPH), an intermediate-acting insulin manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, used for the basal control of blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Dosage and Administration

Dose is individualized based on blood glucose monitoring, usually given subcutaneously once or twice daily. Onset of action is approximately 1-2 hours, with peak effect at 4-12 hours and duration up to 24 hours.

Interaction

Beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors, and alcohol may potentiate hypoglycaemic effects. Corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics may reduce insulin's effect.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with hypoglycaemia and known hypersensitivity to insulin human.

Side Effects

Hypoglycaemia, injection site reactions, and lipodystrophy. Allergic reactions are rare.
