Ariprex 10 mg Tablet

Overview

Ariprex Tablet contains Aripiprazole, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is an atypical antipsychotic used in the treatment of schizophrenia, acute manic or mixed episodes of bipolar I disorder, and as an adjunct in major depressive disorder.

Dosage and Administration

Schizophrenia: 10-15 mg once daily, up to a maximum of 30 mg daily. Bipolar mania: 15 mg once daily as monotherapy. Adjunctive depression therapy: 2-5 mg once daily, titrated as advised by the physician.

Interaction

CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) and CYP2D6 inhibitors (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine) may increase aripiprazole levels, requiring dose reduction. CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., carbamazepine) may decrease its effect.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to aripiprazole.

Side Effects

Akathisia, headache, insomnia, anxiety, nausea, and tremor. Weight gain and metabolic changes may occur with long-term use.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use during pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks; neonates exposed in the third trimester may experience extrapyramidal or withdrawal symptoms. Caution advised during breastfeeding.

Precautions and Warnings

Increased risk of mortality in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis. Monitor for suicidal ideation, metabolic changes, and tardive dyskinesia during treatment.
