DESCRIPTION

ARTH-A MAX is the combination of Diacerein and Glucosamine for the treatment of Osteoarthritis.

Diacerein is a new anti‐inflammatory drug, developed specially for the treatment of

Osteoarthritis. It directly inhibits IL‐1 beta synthesis and release in vitro and down modulates IL‐1 induced activities and have been shown to possess disease modifying effect in experimental models of osteoarthritis and in human subjects with finger joint and knee Osteoarthritis.

Otherwise, Glucosamine Sulfate is a naturally occurring chemical found in the human body. However, it can also be made in a laboratory. It is commonly used for the most common type of arthritis called osteoarthritis.

COMPOSOTION

Each film-coated tablet contains Diacerein INN 50 mg and Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium Chloride USP equivalent to Glucosamine Sulfate 750 mg.

INDICATIONS

ARTH-A MAX is primarily indicated in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and bone and joint injuries.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adult and Children 12 years and older: The usual dose of ARTH-A MAX is 1 tablet twice daily (12 hourly) for 4 to 12 weeks taken with food.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

No serious adverse effect has been reported. But diarrhea, constipation, epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, intense yellow coloring of urine may be associated in some cases.

PRECAUTION

Caution should be practiced when administered in patients who are allergic to Glucosamine and/or

Diacerein or to shellfish (e.g shrimp, crab); who have diabetes, asthma, alcohol dependence or liver disease.

Patient with renal impairment should monitor complete blood count, liver function tests and urinalysis every six months.

USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION

Diacerein is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Due to lack of scientific data regarding its effects on unborn babies and infants, Glucosamine should not be taken by pregnant women and nursing mother.

USE IN CHILDREN

Safety and efficacy in children below 12 years of age have not been established.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Concomitant use of antacids decreases the absorption of Diacerein and increases the risk of diarrhea if taken with laxatives and antibiotics.

SUPPLY

Each box contains 3X10 tablets in alu-alu blister

strips.
