Beclomin 250 HFA

Overview

Beclomin 250 HFA Inhaler contains Beclomethasone Dipropionate, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is an inhaled corticosteroid used for the prophylactic management of asthma to reduce airway inflammation and prevent asthma attacks.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 2 puffs (500 mcg) twice daily, adjusted according to severity, up to a maximum as advised by the physician. Children: dose adjusted by the physician according to age and severity. Rinse mouth after use.

Interaction

Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic corticosteroid exposure. No clinically significant interactions are typically expected at recommended doses.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to beclomethasone dipropionate or any component of the formulation, and not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm.

Side Effects

Oral candidiasis, hoarseness, throat irritation, and cough. Rarely, systemic effects may occur with high doses or prolonged use.

Inhaled corticosteroids are generally considered acceptable during pregnancy and lactation when used at recommended doses under medical supervision.

Precautions and Warnings

Not for relief of acute asthma attacks; a fast-acting bronchodilator should be available for emergencies. Rinse mouth with water after each use to reduce risk of oral candidiasis. Use with caution in active or quiescent pulmonary tuberculosis.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not puncture or incinerate the canister. Keep out of the reach of children.
