Overview

Bilista Tablet contains Bilastine, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is a second-generation, non-sedating antihistamine used for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and urticaria (hives).

Dosage and Administration

Adults and adolescents (12 years and above): 20 mg once daily, taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, as food reduces absorption.

Interaction

Concomitant use with ketoconazole, erythromycin, or diltiazem may increase bilastine plasma levels. Grapefruit juice and other fruit juices may reduce its absorption and should be avoided around the time of dosing.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to bilastine.

Side Effects

Headache, somnolence (less than with first-generation antihistamines), and dizziness. Generally well tolerated with a favourable sedation profile.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly necessary, as data are limited; consult a physician before use.

Precautions and Warnings

Should be taken on an empty stomach for optimal absorption. Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment. Avoid co-administration with fruit juices, including grapefruit, orange, and apple juice.

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
