DESCRIPTION

CECON (Ascorbic Acid) is a water soluble vitamin. It is readily absorbed from the GI tract and is widely distributed in the body tissue. It is important in the defense against infections of the body. Ascorbic Acid is important for the normal functioning of T-lymphocytes and for the effective phagocytic activity of leukocytes. Ascorbic Acid possesses some antiinflammatory activity and protects cells against oxidative damage to essential molecules. Its reductive capacity is important in iron absorption.

COMPOSITION

Each lemon-flavored chewable tablet contains Ascorbic Acid BP & Sodium Ascorbate BP equivalent to 250 mg Ascorbic Acid.

INDICATIONS

CECON is used for the treatment of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) deficiency states; such as scurvy, anemia, skin eruptions, impaired growth, malformation of teeth and bone, fracture caused by brittleness of bones, impaired healing of wounds, delayed blood clotting and clot retraction in deficient red blood cells and platelets, hemorrhages under the skin such as periosteum, gums, intestine and kidney caused by increased fragility of the capillaries.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

CECON one tablet once daily. OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIAN.

SIDE EFFECT

Larger dose may cause diarrhea, headache, nausea and vomiting. High dose as 10g daily may lead to formation of kidney oxalate stones.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Potential contraindication of CECON is not known.

PRECAUTIONS

Ascorbic Acid should be given with caution to patients with hyperoxaluria and thalassemia.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Potentially hazardous interactions : CECON (Ascrobic Acid) is incompatible in solution with aminophylline, bleomycin, erythromycin, sulfafurazole, chloramphenicol, chlorthiazide sodium and hydrocortisone sodium succinate. Potentially useful interaction : CECON (Ascrobic Acid) increases apparent half life of Paracetamol.
