Overview

D-Balance 50000 IU Capsule contains Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3), manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. Vitamin D3 is essential for calcium and phosphate absorption, bone mineralisation, immune function, and muscle health. This formulation is used for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin D deficiency, rickets, osteomalacia, hypoparathyroidism, and as an adjunct in osteoporosis management.

Dosage and Administration

Dosage is individualised based on serum 25-OH vitamin D levels and the degree of deficiency. 50000 IU once weekly for 6–8 weeks for severe deficiency, then maintenance dosing as prescribed by the physician. Take with or after a meal containing fat for best absorption.

Interaction

Thiazide diuretics may increase hypercalcaemia risk. Cholestyramine, mineral oil, and anti-epileptic drugs reduce absorption. Vitamin D may enhance the effect of calcium and increase digoxin toxicity in hypercalcaemia.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, nephrolithiasis, and known hypersensitivity to vitamin D or its analogues.

Side Effects

Generally well tolerated at recommended doses. Toxicity (hypercalcaemia) with excessive dosing may cause nausea, vomiting, polyuria, polydipsia, constipation, and renal impairment.

Vitamin D supplementation is considered safe in pregnancy at recommended doses. Essential for foetal bone development. Small amounts pass into breast milk; may be beneficial.
