Overview

Daizy 2 mg Tablet contains Dienogest, a highly selective fourth-generation progestogen manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is used for the treatment of endometriosis — a painful condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. Dienogest suppresses estradiol levels and inhibits proliferation of ectopic endometrial tissue.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: one tablet (2 mg) once daily continuously, starting on any day of the cycle. Take at the same time each day without a tablet-free interval. Duration of use as directed by the physician (typically up to 15 months).

Interaction

Concurrent hormonal contraceptives or hormone therapies may interfere with efficacy. CYP3A4 inducers (e.g. rifampicin, carbamazepine) may reduce plasma levels. Protease inhibitors and antifungals may increase levels.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in active venous thromboembolism, arterial or cardiovascular disease, known or suspected sex-hormone-dependent malignancy, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, pregnancy, and known hypersensitivity to dienogest.

Side Effects

Irregular menstrual bleeding (most common), headache, breast discomfort, depressed mood, decreased libido, weight gain, and acne. Bone mineral density may decrease with prolonged use.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use effective non-hormonal contraception during therapy.
