Overview

De-Rash 40% Ointment contains Zinc Oxide, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is used as a protective barrier for the prevention and treatment of nappy (diaper) rash, minor skin irritation, chafing, and other conditions where the skin needs protection from moisture and irritants. Zinc oxide forms a physical barrier on the skin and has mild antiseptic and astringent properties.

Dosage and Administration

Apply a thin layer to the affected area at each nappy change, or as directed by the physician. Gently clean and dry the area before each application. For infants and children as directed.

Interaction

No clinically significant drug interactions reported with topical zinc oxide.

Contraindications

Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to deep wounds, infected skin, or areas with severe dermatitis without physician direction.

Side Effects

Occasionally, mild skin irritation or allergy at the application site. Generally very well tolerated.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid applying to breast area if nursing.
