Clobetasol propionate is a potent topical corticosteroid used to relieve inflammation and pruritus in corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses including eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, and lichen planus.

Dosage and Administration

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area once or twice daily, gently massaging in. Wash hands after application. Do not use for longer than 2 consecutive weeks on any one area without physician reassessment.

Interaction

Topical clobetasol may interact with other topical preparations. Systemic absorption may be significant under occlusive dressings or on large areas.

Contraindications

Avoid on facial skin (without specialist direction), skin infections (unless in combination with appropriate antimicrobials), acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and in known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids.
