Overview

Dermasol-N 0.05%+0.5%+2% Ointment contains Clobetasol Propionate 0.05% + Neomycin Sulphate 0.5% + Nystatin 2%, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. This triple-combination topical preparation provides anti-inflammatory (clobetasol propionate), antibacterial (neomycin sulphate), and antifungal (nystatin) coverage for mixed inflammatory skin conditions with secondary infection.

Dosage and Administration

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area once or twice daily, gently massaging in. Wash hands after application. Do not use for longer than 2 consecutive weeks on any one area without physician reassessment.

Interaction

Topical clobetasol may interact with other topical preparations. Systemic absorption may be significant under occlusive dressings or on large areas.

Contraindications

Avoid on facial skin (without specialist direction), skin infections (unless in combination with appropriate antimicrobials), acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and in known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids.

Side Effects

Local skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, perioral dermatitis, and suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis with prolonged or extensive use.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use with caution in pregnancy; avoid extensive or prolonged use. Use only if benefits outweigh risks during breastfeeding.

Precautions and Warnings

Use the minimum amount for the shortest duration possible. Avoid face, broken skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Do not use under occlusive dressings without physician direction.
