Overview

Equra 10% Cream contains Urea 10% w/w, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. Urea is a natural constituent of the skin's natural moisturising factor (NMF). At 10% concentration, it acts primarily as a humectant and emollient — attracting water into the stratum corneum and promoting skin hydration. At higher concentrations, urea has additional keratolytic (skin-softening) activity. Equra 10% Cream is used for dry, rough, and scaly skin conditions including xerosis, ichthyosis, eczema, psoriasis, and diabetic foot skin care.

Dosage and Administration

Apply a thin layer to the affected dry or rough skin areas once or twice daily, or as directed by the physician. Massage gently until absorbed. May be used under occlusion for hyperkeratotic (very thickened) areas.

Interaction

No clinically significant drug interactions with topical urea at this concentration.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any component. Avoid use on broken or acutely inflamed skin.

Side Effects

Mild stinging or burning on initial application to very dry or cracked skin — usually transient. Occasional local irritation in sensitive individuals.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Generally considered safe for topical use in pregnancy and breastfeeding at prescribed doses.
