Erian Suppository

Overview

Erian Suppository is a combination anorectal rectal suppository manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, containing Cinchocaine, Hydrocortisone, Framycetin Sulphate, and Esculin. The suppository form delivers medication directly into the rectum, making it more effective for internal haemorrhoids, internal anal fissures, and rectal inflammation where topical ointment may not penetrate adequately. Provides anaesthetic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and venotonic action.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: insert one suppository into the rectum morning and evening and after each bowel movement. For use: wet the suppository briefly in warm water to ease insertion; lie on one side with knees bent. Do not use more than 3–4 suppositories per day. Duration: up to 7 days unless directed otherwise.

Interaction

Same as ointment form: minimal systemic absorption. Inform physician of all concurrent medications.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in viral, fungal, or tuberculous rectal infections, known hypersensitivity to any component, and in children without physician guidance.

Side Effects

Mild local irritation or discomfort on insertion. Prolonged corticosteroid use — risk of local atrophy and increased susceptibility to infection.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use with caution during pregnancy; use only under physician supervision for the shortest duration necessary.

Precautions and Warnings
