Eyevi Eye Capsule

Overview

Eyevi Capsule contains a clinically formulated combination of Vitamin C 60 mg, Vitamin E 30 mg, Lutein 6 mg, Copper 2 mg, and Zinc 15 mg, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. This formulation is based on the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) formula, which demonstrated significant reduction in the progression of intermediate to advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Lutein concentrates specifically in the macula and lens, acting as a yellow macular pigment that filters harmful blue light and acts as a local antioxidant. Vitamins C and E provide systemic antioxidant protection, while Zinc supports retinal enzyme function and transport of Vitamin A to the retina.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 1 capsule daily with a meal, or as prescribed by an ophthalmologist or physician.

Interaction

High-dose Zinc may reduce absorption of copper (hence copper is included in the formulation). Vitamin E and C at these doses have minimal significant interactions. Do not take alongside other high-dose antioxidant supplements without physician guidance.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any component. High-dose zinc should be used cautiously in patients with renal impairment.

Side Effects

Generally well tolerated at recommended doses. High-dose zinc may cause nausea; included copper minimises zinc-induced copper deficiency.

Pregnancy and Lactation

The individual components are generally safe during pregnancy at standard supplement doses; however, high-dose individual vitamins should be taken under physician guidance in pregnancy.

Precautions and Warnings

Not a substitute for regular eye examinations. Consult an ophthalmologist for evaluation of macular degeneration or other retinal conditions. Results require continuous long-term supplementation.
