Overview
Levostar 1 mg Tablet contains Levosalbutamol, a selective beta-2 adrenoceptor agonist bronchodilator manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. Levosalbutamol is the (R)-enantiomer of racemic salbutamol — the pharmacologically active isomer that produces bronchodilation without the adverse effects associated with the (S)-enantiomer. Compared to racemic salbutamol, clinically comparable bronchodilation can be achieved at lower doses with fewer beta-mediated side effects. Levosalbutamol relaxes airway smooth muscle, relieving bronchospasm and improving airflow in obstructive airways disease.
Levostar 1 mg is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in adults, adolescents, and children 6 years of age and older with reversible obstructive airway disease, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Dosage and Administration
Adults and adolescents (above 12 years): 1–2 mg three times daily.
Children (6–11 years): 1 mg three times daily.

Interaction
Other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators and epinephrine should be used with caution concurrently with Levostar to avoid deleterious cardiovascular effects.
