Composition

Each soft gelatin capsule contains Vitamin A BP 50,000 IU.

Pharmacology

Retinol and derivatives of retinol that play an essential role in metabolic functioning of the retina, the growth of and differentiation of epithelial tissue, the growth of bone, reproduction, and the immune response. Dietary vitamin A is derived from a variety of carotenoids found in plants. It is enriched in the liver, egg yolks, and the fat component of dairy products.

Indications

 Eye illness (night blindness, xerophthalmia)

 Dermatological problem (changes in skin, hair and nails)

 Respiratory problem (sinusitis, bronchitis), acne vulgaris, Ichthyosis, Darier’s diseases.

 Others: growth, resistance to infections.

Contraindication

Hypervitaminosis of vitamin A.

Warning & Precautions

In pregnancy, daily dose should not be over 10,000 IU. For other patients Medical supervision is needed in case of dose over 50,000 IU.

Side effects

Common : Side effects from taking moderate doses of vitamin A do not occur often.

Rare : Irritability, vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, pruritic skin, fatigue, pain in ankles and feet, myalgia, loss of body hair, papilledema, nystagmus, liver cirrhosis.

Use in pregnancy & lactation

Vitamin A is safe to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding as long as you don't take more than the recommended amount for your age and condition.

Use in children & adolescents

Safe for use in children & adolescent.

Drug interaction

With Medicine : You shouldn't take vitamin A if you are taking the following drugs: Acitretin, Isotretinoin, Mineral oil, Topical tretinoin.

With food& Others: There is no food that interacts with Vitamin A.

Over dose

Vitamin A can be toxic in high doses.

Storage

Store below 300 C and dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of the children.
