Ceftiben Oral Suspension (90 mg/5 ml) contains Ceftibuten Dihydrate, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. This suspension is intended for children who require a liquid formulation, used for the treatment of bacterial otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and acute bronchitis in paediatric patients.

Dosage and Administration

Children: 9 mg/kg once daily up to a maximum of 400 mg/day, for 7–10 days, as prescribed. Administer on an empty stomach; shake well before each use.

Interaction

Probenecid increases ceftibuten concentration. Warfarin anticoagulant effect may be potentiated.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to ceftibuten, cephalosporins, or penicillins.

Side Effects

Diarrhoea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Rash and allergic reactions may occur rarely.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Use in pregnancy only when necessary. Excreted in breast milk in small amounts.
