DESCRIPTION
CINAZIN (Cinnarizine) is a prominent calcium channel antagonist and inhibits vasoconstrictor response to various pharmacological stimuli, also acts on the labyrinth as a sedative in vertigo. CINAZIN shows vasodilating properties acting on peripheral blood vessels.
CINAZIN prevents motion sickness by allowing norepinephrine to predominate over acetylcholine. It has been found useful in the management of intermittent claudication, vestibular disorders and other peripheral vascular diseases.
COMPOSITION
Each tablet contains Cinnarizine BP 15 mg.
INDICATIONS
Vestibular disorder : Vertigo, nausea, headache and vomiting, insomnia, loss of memory, tinnitus etc. Peripheral disease : Blood hyperviscosity, ischaemia, intermittent claudication and Raynaud's syndrome. Motion sickness : CINAZIN is effective against motion sickness, prophylactically and after onset of malaise.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Vestibular disorder :
Adults : 2 tablets 3 times daily. Children (5-12 years) : 1 tablet 3 times daily.
Motion sickness :
Adults : 2 tablets 2 hours before travel then 1 tablet every 8 hours during journey if necessary. Children (5-12 years) : Half of the adult dose. Peripheral vascular disease : Initially 4-5 tablets 3 times daily and for maintenance therapy 4-5 tablets 2-3 times daily.

SIDE EFFECTS
Cinnarizine is generally well tolerated and side effects are mild. The commonest side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, allergic skin reactions, fatigue and gastrointestinal upset.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Cinnarizine is contraindicated in patients with Parkinson's disease and to porphyria.
PRECAUTIONS
Caution should be taken in patients with hypotension and elderly on prolonged therapy.
