DESCRIPTION

Oxecone-S (Aluminium Hydroxide+ Magnesium Hydroxide +Simethicone) is a well balanced, pleasant tasting double strength antacid and anti-gas medication that provides consistent effective relief from ulcer and gas. Oxecone-S contains two proven antacids Magnesium Hydroxide and Aluminium Hydroxide and

Simethicone for gas relief. The active antacid ingredients of

Oxecone-S demonstrate a rapid and uniform buffering action and Simethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles causing them to coalesce. It is used in the treatment of flatulence and meteorism for the elimination of gas, air of foam from the gastrointestinal tract prior to radiography and for the relief of abdominal distension and dyspepsia.

Oxecone-S suspension is free from sugar, so it is suitable for diabetic and obese patients.

COMPOSITION

Tablet : Each chewable tablet contains dried Aluminium

Hydroxide gel BP 400 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide BP 400 mg and

Simethicone USP 30 mg.

Suspension : Each 5 ml suspension contains dried gel equivalent to Aluminium Hydroxide USP 400 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide BP 400 mg and Simethicone USP 30 mg.

INDICATIONS

Peptic ulcer, gastritis, peptic oeso-phagitis, heart burn.

Furthermore gastric irritation after excessive consumption of alcohol, nicotine or coffee, medication causing gastric irritation or inappropriate diet.

Oxecone-S is indicated as antiflatulent to alleviate the symptoms of mucous entrapped gas including postoperative gas pain.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Tablet : 1-2 tablets 1-2 hours after meal or at bed time or when required.

Suspension : 1-2 teaspoonful 1-2 hours after meal or at bed time or when required.

OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIAN.

SIDE EFFECTS

Gastrointestinal side effects are uncommon. Occasionally diarrhoea or constipation may occur if excessive amount is used.

CONTRAINDICTIONS

Oxecone-S is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.

PRECAUTIONS

Antacids may reduce the absorption of a number of drugs including macrolides, quinolones, tetracyclines, isoniazid, ketoconazole, digoxin and phenytoin. So it should not be taken concomitantly with these drugs. If these drugs are prescribed with antacid, there should be a gap of at least 1 to 2 hours in taking them.

Tablet : Each box contains 10 X 10 tablets in blister strips.

Suspension : Each bottle contains 200 ml suspension.
