DESCRIPTION
MB12 is the Mecobalamin preparation which is an endogenous coenzyme-type
vitamin B12. This active ingredient is transported to nerve tissues better than any other types of vitamin B12 and promotes nucleic acid, protein and lipid metabolism through transmethylation reactions. MB 12 acts to repair damaged nerve tissue in nerve disorders such as axonal degeneration and demyelination. It also promotes the maturation and division of erythroblast and heme synthesis.
COMPOSITION
MB12 Tablet : Each film-coated tablet contains Mecobalamin INN 0.5 mg.
MB12 Injection : Each 1 ml ampoule contains Mecobalamin INN 0.5 mg.
INDICATIONS
MB 12 is indicated for the treatment of :
Peripheral neuropathies (for example, diabetic and alcoholic neuropathy, drug induced neuropathy, lumbago, entrapment neuropathy, intercostal neuralgia and diabetic retinopathy and other neuropathies).
Megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency (injection only).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
MB12 Tablet:
The usual dose for adults is 1 Tablet (0.5 mg of Mecobalamin), administered orally three times a day.
The dose should be adjusted according to the age of patient and severity of symptoms. MB12 Injection:
Peripheral neuropathies
The usual dose for adults is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecobalamin), administered intramuscularly or intravenously three times a week.The dose should be adjusted according to the age of patient and severity of symptoms.
Megaloblastic anemia
The usual dose for adults is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecobalamin), administered intramuscularly or intravenously three times a week. After approximately 2 months of medication, the dose should be reduced to a single administration one ampoule at 1 to 3-month intervals for maintenance therapy.

SIDE EFFECTS
Loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea or other symptoms of gastrointestinal upsets may infrequently appear.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to any component of this product.
PRECAUTIONS
MB12 (Mecobalamin) should not be used over a period of months, if there is lack of satisfactory clinical response.
MB12 is susceptible to photolysis. It must be used promptly after the package is opened, and care must be taken not to expose the ampoules to direct light.
USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION
Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation.
USE IN CHILDREN
Not recommended for children.
