DESCRIPTION

Oxecone is a nonsystemic antacid. Oxecone is a well balanced combination of Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide. It is reliable and long lasting. Oxecone forms layer on the mucosal membrane of intestine and stomach which protects them from further hyperacidity and thus accelerates ulcer healing process.

There is no possibility of diarrhoea and constipation during treatment with Oxecone.

COMPOSITION

Tablet : Each chewable tablet contains dried Aluminium

Hydroxide gel BP 250 mg and Magnesium Hydroxide BP 400 mg.

Suspension : Each 5 ml suspension contains Magnesium

Hydroxide BP 125 mg and Aluminium Hydroxide compressed gel

BP 2 g equivalent to Aluminium Oxide 200 mg.

INDICATIONS

Acute and chronic gastritis, Gastric and duodenal ulcers, Reflux oesophagitis, Heart burn, Acid eructation, Gastric irritation after excessive consumption of alcohol, nicotine or coffee, medication causing gastric irritation or inappropriate diet.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Tablet : 1-2 tablets 1-2 hours after meal or at bed time or when required.

Suspension : 2-4 teaspoonful 1-2 hours after meal or at bed time or when required.

OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIAN.

SIDE EFFECTS

Gastrointestinal side effects are uncommon. Occasionally diarrhoea or constipation may occur if excessive amount is used.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Oxecone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.

PRECAUTIONS

Antacids may reduce the absorption of a number of drugs including macrolides, quinolones, tetracyclines, isoniazid, ketoconazole, digoxin and phenytoin. So it should not be taken concomitantly with the drugs mentioned above. If these drugs are prescribed with antacid, there should be a gap of at least 1 to 2 hours in taking them.

SUPPLY

Tablet : Each box contains 10 X 10 tablets in blister strips.

Suspension : Each bottle contains 200 ml suspension.
