Ace XR Tablet

Overview

Ace XR Tablet contains Paracetamol 665 mg in an extended-release formulation, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is indicated for fever and pain conditions requiring longer-lasting relief, such as headache, bodyache, myalgia, and arthritic pain.

Dosage and Administration

Adults and children over 12 years: Two tablets, swallowed whole, every 6 to 8 hours, up to a maximum of 6 tablets in any 24 hours. The tablet must not be crushed or chewed.

Interaction

Patients who have taken barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants or alcohol may show diminished ability to metabolise large doses.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.

Side Effects

Side effects are usually mild. Rare haematological reactions, pancreatitis, skin rash and other allergic reactions have occasionally been reported.

Pregnancy and Lactation

No ill effects shown in epidemiological studies at recommended doses, but patients should follow their physician's advice.

Precautions and Warnings

Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Do not exceed the stated dose. The tablet must be swallowed whole, not crushed.
