Overview

5-ampoule pack of Amikacin 100mg. Broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic active against MDR Gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter baumannii. Used for paediatric and weight-based IV/IM dosing. TDM mandatory: peak 56–64 mg/L, trough <5 mg/L. Daily renal function monitoring required.

Critical Diabetic Patient Warnings

• Nephrotoxicity: Diabetic kidney disease at any stage multiplies nephrotoxicity risk — daily creatinine and eGFR monitoring essential
• Ototoxicity: Irreversible hearing loss possible — baseline audiometry for courses >7 days
• Avoid concurrent nephrotoxins: NSAIDs, vancomycin, IV contrast
• IV hydration before each dose reduces nephrotoxicity risk

Store at 15–25°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light. Single use per ampoule.
