Overview

Ansulin 50/50 contains an equal mixture of Regular Insulin Human (50%) and Isophane Insulin Human (50%), manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, used to control blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus requiring both rapid and intermediate-acting insulin coverage.

Dosage and Administration

Dose is individualized based on blood glucose monitoring, given subcutaneously once or twice daily, 30 minutes before meals. Injection sites should be rotated.

Interaction

Beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors, and alcohol may potentiate hypoglycaemic effects. Corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics may reduce insulin's effect.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with hypoglycaemia and known hypersensitivity to insulin human.

Side Effects

Hypoglycaemia, injection site reactions, and lipodystrophy. Allergic reactions are rare.

Insulin is the treatment of choice during pregnancy and lactation; dose adjustment under medical supervision may be required.

Precautions and Warnings
