Overview

Asynta Suspension contains Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It forms a raft that floats on top of the stomach contents, providing relief from heartburn, acid reflux, and symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, or as advised by the physician. Should be taken undiluted, after meals, to maximize the raft-forming effect.

Interaction

May reduce the absorption of certain medications such as tetracyclines, iron salts, and digoxin if taken concurrently; an interval of 2 hours between doses is advisable.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to alginates and in severe renal impairment due to the potassium content.

Side Effects

Generally well tolerated; occasional bloating or flatulence may occur.
