Overview

B-50 Forte Injection is a high-strength B-Complex vitamin preparation manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, used when the oral route is not feasible or when rapid correction of vitamin B-group deficiency is needed.

Indications

B-50 Forte is indicated in vitamin B-Complex deficiency states such as beriberi, Wernicke's encephalopathy, loss of appetite, cheilosis, glossitis, angular stomatitis, keratitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, pellagra, photophobia, peripheral neuritis, and corneal vascularization. It is also used in conditions causing depletion or reduced absorption of vitamins, such as gastrointestinal disorders, chronic alcoholism, febrile illness, prolonged or wasting diseases, hyperthyroidism, or poorly controlled diabetes, and in conditions with increased B-Complex requirement such as pregnancy, severe burns, and recovery from surgery.

Pharmacology

B-50 Forte is a well-balanced combination of B-Complex vitamins specially formulated for prophylactic or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in conditions requiring water-soluble B-Complex vitamins. These vitamins are essential for normal metabolic functions including hematopoiesis, and are necessary for the conversion of carbohydrate, protein, and fat into tissue and energy.

Dosage and Administration

Injection: Given intramuscularly or intravenously (slowly) in a dose of 2 ml daily, or as advised by the registered physician.

Interaction

Pyridoxine may increase the peripheral metabolism of levodopa, reducing its therapeutic efficacy in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Hypersensitivity to any of its components.
