DESCRIPTION
BET-CG cream contains three potent ingredients including Betamethasone, Clotrimazole & Gentamicin. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid having the anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties. Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent used for the treatment of superficial infections caused by species of pathogenic dermatophytes and yeasts. Gentamicin is a wide-spectrum bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic which provides highly effective topical treatment in primary and secondary bacterial infections of the skin.
COMPOSITION
Each gram of cream contains Betamethasone Dipropionate BP equivalent to 0.5 mg
Betamethasone, 10 mg Clotrimazole BP and Gentamicin Sulfate BP equivalent to 1 mg Gentamicin.
INDICATIONS
BET-CG cream is indicated for the treatment of oozing eczema, generalised eczema, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis as well as some forms of psoriasis, impetigo, tinea pedis, tinea cruris and tinea corporis etc.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
A thin film of BET-CG cream should be applied onto the affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily, in the morning and at night for four weeks.
SIDE EFFECTS
Adverse reactions to this therapy have been reported very rarely and include skin discoloration, hypochromia, burning, erythema, exudation and pruritus.
CONTRAINDICATION
BET-CG cream is contraindicated in those patients with a history of sensitivity reactions to any of its components.
PRECAUTION
If irritation or sensitization develops with the use of BET-CG cream treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can produce reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. Application of this cream to open wounds or damaged skin should be avoided. This cream is not for ophthalmic use. This cream should not be used for longer than the prescribed time period.
USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION
Since safety of topical corticosteroid use in pregnant women has not been established, drugs of this class should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known whether the components of the preparation are excreted in human milk and therefore caution should be exercised when treating nursing mothers.
USE IN CHILDREN
The safety and effectiveness of this preparation has not been established in children below the age of 12 years.

OVER DOSE
Excessive or prolonged use of topical corticosteroids can suppress pituitary-adrenal function, resulting in secondary adrenal insufficiency and produce manifestations of hypercorticism, including Cushing's disease.
