Clotrim 5 gm Cream
DESCRIPTION
CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that is used for the treatment of dermal infections caused by various species of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds and bacteroids. CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) is also active against certain gram-positive bacteria especially Staphylococci and Tricomonas. Like other imidazoles, CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) alters the permeability of fungal cell walls by interfering with cell wall lipids. At fungi static levels the main effect is inhibition of ergosterol synthesis but at higher concentrations there is an additional mechanism of membrane damage unrelated to sterol synthesis.
COMPOSITION

CLOTRIM Vaginal suppository : Each suppository contains clotrimazole BP 200 mg.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION.
Cream: Cream should be thinly and evenly applied 2-3 times daily to the affected area and rubbed in gently. To help clear up infection completely and prevent relapse, treatment should be continued for at least two weeks after the disappearance of all signs of infections. If the feet are infected they should be thoroughly washed and dried, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.
Suppository: One suppository should be inserted intravaginally daily (preferably at night) for three consecutive days. The suppository should be inserted into the vagina, as high as possible. This is best achieved when lying back with legs bent up.
OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIANS.
USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION
CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) is very poorly absorbed into the blood and the body after application to the skin or the vagina. Studies in women in their second or third trimesters have demonstrated no ill effects. It is not known if CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) is secreted in breast milk. CLOTRIM (Clotrimazole) suppository can be used during pregnancy, but only under the supervision of Physician.
