DESCRIPTION

Betamethasone is an active topical corticosteroid, which produces a rapid response in the inflammatory dermatoses and cures psoriasis types of skin diseases.

Neomycin Sulfate is a topical broad-spectrum bactericidal amino-glycoside effective against various kinds of grampositive and gram-negative pathogens such as Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus etc. NEOBET has effective penetration and uniform distribution capacity, so it is very effective in hairy and intertriginous places.

NEOBET cream is very effective for the treatment of wet ulceration of the skin.

COMPOSITION

Cream : Each gram cream contains Neomycin Sulfate USP 5.0 mg and Betamethasone (as Valerate) USP 1.0 mg.

INDICATIONS

NEOBET cream is usually useful for the treatment of

superficial infections caused by gram-positive and gramnegative microorganisms. It is also useful in burns, regeneration of new skin in wounds and ulceration, otitis externa, postoperative infections, neuro-dermatitis and eczema. It may be used as an adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in special kind of pyoderma.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

NEOBET cream should be applied to the affected area of the skin for 3 to 4 times daily. In chronic condition, withdrawal of treatment is carried out by decreasing the frequency of application until the cream is applied as infrequently as once a week.

SIDE EFFECTS

NEOBET cream is well tolerated. But prolonged and high

doses may cause Cushing's syndrome with moonface,

acne, thinning and dilatation of blood vessels, particularly

when occlusive dressings are used.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

NEOBET cream is contraindicated to the patients who are hypersensitive to any of its components. It should not be used for the treatment of otitis externa when the eardrum is perforated. It is contraindicated in skin lesions caused by infection with viruses and fungi.

PRECAUTIONS

Long term continuous topical therapy of NEOBET should be avoided, which may produce many resistant microorganisms. So, accurate dose of NEOBET should be used in infected areas only.

Neobet 5 g : Each tube contains 5 g cream.

Neobet 10 g : Each tube contains 10 g cream.

Neotracin contains Neomycin Sulfate and Bacitracin.

Neomycin and Bacitracin together provide bactericidal

activity. Neomycin mainly acts against gram-negative organisms and Bacitracin acts against many gram-positive organisms.

COMPOSITION

Skin Ointment : Each gram ointment contains Neomycin

Sulfate (micronised) USP 5 mg and Bacitracin (as zinc salt) USP 500 units.

Dusting Powder : Each gram dusting powder contains

Neomycin Sulfate USP 5 mg and Bacitracin Zinc USP 4.56 mg (1 mg = 55 units).

INDICATIONS

Furunculosis, impetigo, sycosis barbae, eczema, skin ulcer, infected wounds, infected burn wounds, strains of

Staphylococci which are resistant to other antibiotics usually remain sensitive to Bacitracin.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Skin Ointment : Apply two to three times daily to the affected skin area.

Dusting Powder : Neotracin antibiotic powder is a nonsterile dusting powder and used for superficial skin infections. A light dusting of the powder to be applied to the affected skin area upto 4 times daily.

SIDE EFFECTS

Neotracin is usually well tolerated. In rare cases, allergic reactions may be occurred.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any of its components.

PRECAUTIONS

Neotracin antibiotic powder should not be used to large open wounds or to severely injured skin or on areas that exude large volumes of fluid as hard crusts may form.

Since Neotracin skin ointment contains Neomycin, it should not be used for the treatment of otitis externa when the eardrum is perforated because of risk of ototoxicity.

Dusting Powder : Each plastic bottle with perforated lid contains 5g powder.
