Overview

Clotinex 6000 Anti-Xa IU Injection contains Enoxaparin Sodium (60 mg), a low molecular weight heparin anticoagulant manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. This higher-dose syringe is used for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and acute coronary syndromes in weight-adjusted therapeutic dosing regimens.

Dosage and Administration

Treatment of DVT/PE: 1 mg/kg (100 Anti-Xa IU/kg) twice daily SC, or 1.5 mg/kg once daily depending on patient weight and clinical situation, as prescribed. Administer by deep SC injection into abdominal fat.

Interaction

Increased bleeding risk with other anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and NSAIDs. Concurrent dextran and thrombolytics increase haemorrhagic risk.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in active major bleeding, HIT, and known hypersensitivity to enoxaparin or heparin.

Side Effects

Injection site haematoma, thrombocytopenia, elevated liver enzymes, and bleeding. Risk of HIT with prolonged use.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Safe for thromboembolism treatment in pregnancy under specialist supervision. Minimal breast milk transfer.

Precautions and Warnings

Monitor anti-Xa levels in renal impairment, obesity, and pregnancy. Reduce dose or change to unfractionated heparin in severe renal failure (CrCl <30). SC route only.

Storage Conditions

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is enoxaparin 60 mg the correct dose for all patients?
No — the therapeutic dose is weight-adjusted (1 mg/kg twice daily or 1.5 mg/kg once daily); the 60 mg syringe is appropriate for patients of ~60 kg on twice-daily dosing.

How long should anticoagulation therapy continue?
Duration depends on the clinical indication; DVT treatment is typically 5–10 days with overlap into oral anticoagulation as directed by the physician.
