Gynastin Vaginal Suppository

DESCRIPTION

Metronidazole, a nitroimidazole, is active against various anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is bactericidal and active against anaerobic some gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic with antifungal activity. Polymyxin is active against gram-negative organisms including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

COMPOSITION

Each vaginal suppository contains Metronidazole BP 200 mg,

Neomycin Sulphate BP 35,000 IU, Polymyxin B Sulphate BP 35,000 IU, Nystatin BP 1,00,000 IU.

INDICATION

Vaginal Trichomoniasis, vaginal leucorrhoeas, mixed vaginal infections (Fungal or Bacterial).

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

One suppository in vagina at bedtime for 12 days.

OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIAN

SIDE EFFECTS

Skin rash, urticaria may occur rarely.

CONTRAINDICATION

Contraindicated to the patients who are hypersensitive to Metronidazole, Neomycin Sulphate, Polymyxin B Sulphate and Nystatin.

PRECAUTION

Caution should be taken in case of renal impairment.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

Caution should be practiced in pregnancy and lactation.

SUPPLY

Each box contains 2 x 6’s Suppositories in blister strip.
