Overview
Ace 250 mg Suppository contains Paracetamol, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is indicated for fever, common cold and influenza, headache, toothache, earache, bodyache, myalgia, neuralgia, dysmenorrhoea, sprains, colic pain, back pain, post-operative and postpartum pain, and inflammatory pain, as well as rheumatic and osteoarthritic pain.
Dosage and Administration
Children 1-5 years: 125-250 mg 4 times daily. Children 6-12 years: 250-500 mg 4 times daily. Adults and children over 12 years: 0.5-1 gm 4 times daily.
Interaction
Patients who have taken barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants or alcohol may show diminished ability to metabolise large doses. Alcohol can increase hepatotoxicity risk on overdosage.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.
Side Effects
Side effects are usually mild. Rare haematological reactions, pancreatitis, skin rash and other allergic reactions have occasionally been reported.
Pregnancy and Lactation
No ill effects shown in epidemiological studies at recommended doses, but patients should follow their physician's advice. Excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts; not contraindicated during breastfeeding.
Precautions and Warnings
Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Do not exceed the stated dose or use with other paracetamol-containing products concurrently.
