Overview
Anoxa Tablet contains Oxazepam, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is a benzodiazepine indicated for the short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety, including anxiety associated with depression, and for the management of alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Adults: 10-30 mg three to four times daily, depending on severity of symptoms. Elderly patients: 10-20 mg three times daily. Treatment duration should be as short as possible, typically not exceeding 4 weeks.
Interaction
Concomitant use with alcohol, opioids, or other CNS depressants increases the risk of sedation and respiratory depression. May potentiate the effects of other sedative drugs.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Oxazepam or other benzodiazepines, myasthenia gravis, severe respiratory insufficiency, and sleep apnoea syndrome.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, and ataxia, especially at the start of treatment. Paradoxical reactions such as agitation may occur rarely.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, due to risk of fetal harm. Not recommended during breastfeeding as benzodiazepines are excreted in breast milk.
Precautions and Warnings
Risk of dependence and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use; dose should be tapered gradually when discontinuing. Use with caution in elderly patients and those with hepatic or renal impairment.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
