Overview

Cinaron Plus 20 mg+40 mg Tablet combines Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate, manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. Cinnarizine is a calcium antagonist and Dimenhydrinate is an antihistamine; together they reduce symptoms of vertigo and nausea more effectively than either ingredient alone.

Indications

Cinaron Plus is indicated for cerebral circulatory disorders (dizziness, tinnitus, vascular headache, memory loss due to aging, sequelae of cerebral and cranial trauma, post-apoplectic disorders, migraine), peripheral circulatory disorders (intermittent claudication, trophic disturbances, varicose ulcers, cold extremities), and disorders of balance including Meniere's syndrome, vertigo, dizziness, tinnitus, nausea and vomiting, as well as prophylaxis of motion sickness.

Pharmacology

Cinnarizine, a calcium antagonist, and Dimenhydrinate, an antihistamine, both work by reducing symptoms of vertigo and nausea. The combination is more effective than either compound used individually.

Dosage and Administration

Adults: 1 tablet three times daily, to be taken after meals.
Children and adolescents under 18 years: Not recommended.
Elderly: Dosage as for adults.

Interaction

Concurrent use of alcohol, CNS depressants or tricyclic antidepressants may potentiate the sedative effects of either these drugs or of Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate. It is advisable to avoid these drugs while taking this medication.

Contraindicated in patients with angle-closure glancoma, convulsions, suspicion of raised intracranial pressure, alcohol abuse, or urine retention due to urethroprostatic disorders.

Other possible reactions include weight gain, constipation, chest tightness, jaundice, worsening of angle-closure glancoma, uncontrollable movements, unusual excitement and restlessness, and severe skin reactions.

Pregnancy and Lactation
