Duocard 10 mg Tablet

Description

DUOCARD (Cilnidipine) is a dihydropyridine (DHP) type of calcium channel antagonist which inhibits sympathetic Ntype calcium channels in addition to vascular L-type calcium channels. The L-type calcium channel blockade by cilnidipine affects predominantly vascular smooth muscle, thereby producing vasodilation of peripheral resistance vessels and coronary arteries. The blockade of N-type Ca2+ channels affects predominantly peripheral nerve endings of sympathetic neurons, thereby dilating blood vessels by lowering plasma catecholamine levels. Thus

Simultaneous blockade of the L type and N type calcium channels results in [Type a quote from the document or the summary of an interesting point. Moreover the inhibition of N-type Ca2+ channels may provide a new strategy for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases with sympathetic over activity.
