Composition
Each ml contains Gentamicin Sulfate USP equivalent to Gentamicin 100 mg.
Pharmacology
Gentamicin is bactericidal and is a broad spectrum antibiotic (except against streptococci and anaerobic bacteria). Gentamicin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to 30s ribosomal subunit.
Indications
Pneumonia, bronchitis, enteritis, hemorrhagic septicemia, mastitis, endometritis, urinary tract infection, brucellosis, bacterial diarrhea, salmonellosis, septicemia and mycoplasmosis. To prevent secondary bacterial infection in case of viral diseases (such as PPR, FMD etc).
Dosage & Administration
Route of administration: IM/IV/SC For intramuscular/intravenous injection only
Cattle/Buffalo/Horse: 1.0 ml/25 kg body weight.
Goat/Sheep/Dog/Cat/Other small animals: 0.4-1.0 ml/10 kg body weight.
Administer by deep intramuscular or slow intravenous injection twice on the first day of treatment at 12 hours interval and repeat from second day once daily for 3-5 days.
For intramuscular/subcutaneous injection only Poultry: 0.05-0.1 ml/ kg body weight.
Administer by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection twice on the first day of treatment at 12 hours interval and repeat from 2nd day once daily for 3-5 days.
Or, as directed by the Registered Veterinary Physician.
Withdrawal period
Meat: 7 days & Milk: 2 days.
Contraindication
It is contraindicated to animals hypersensitive to Gentamicin. It is also contraindicated in pregnancy.
Side Effects
Common side effect: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, loss of appetite, and injection site reactions (pain, irritation, and redness) may be seen.
Rare side effect: Hypocalcemia, neuromuscular paralysis, nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity have been reported with high and prolonged medication.
Warning and Precaution
Antibiogram is recommended before administration. In case of urinary tract infection alkaline feed is recommended.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
Should not be used in pregnant or lactating animals. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration of medicine in pregnant & lactating animals.
Drug interactions
With medicine: Potential drug interaction may occur with other aminoglycosides and bacteriostatic antibiotics.
With feed & others: Not known.
Overdose
Early signs of toxicity include loss of hearing and balance or vomiting. Moreover, increase or decrease in water intake, loss of appetite, depression, coma and death may be reported.

Store below 30° C temperature & dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
