Lebac 125 mg/5 ml Powder for Suspension contains Cephradine, a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. Once reconstituted, each 5 ml of suspension delivers 125 mg of Cephradine. This oral liquid formulation is primarily intended for paediatric patients or adults who have difficulty swallowing capsules. Cephradine exerts bactericidal activity by disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, and is effective against a wide spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

Lebac suspension is indicated for respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections (cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis), and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Dosage and Administration

Children: 25–50 mg/kg/day in 2–4 equally divided doses. For otitis media: 75–100 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 6–12 hours. Paediatric dosage should not exceed recommended adult doses.

Adults: Respiratory tract and skin infections: 250–500 mg four times daily. Urinary tract infections: 500 mg four times daily or 1 g twice daily. Maximum daily dose: 4 g. Treatment should continue at least 2–3 days after symptom resolution; streptococcal infections require at least 10 days of treatment.

The suspension should be freshly prepared. Reconstituted suspension is stable for 7 days at room temperature or 14 days under refrigeration. Shake well before use.

Interaction

Nephrotoxic drugs (aminoglycosides) and loop diuretics (furosemide, ethacrynic acid) may increase the risk of renal toxicity when used concurrently.
